State College Rugby recognises the increased interest, new wave of parent support, and USA Rugby youth development efforts that have created an anticipated and dramatic surge in the American rugby population. Many athletes are choosing rugby as their primary option for sport participation. As a result, USA Rugby is broadening its focus from generating interest in youth rugby to creating sound organizational platforms aimed at sustaining positive development.

The State College High School Rugby Club realize that Rugby is a legitimate high school sport opportunity for all athletes by providing a great experience on and off the field, and by gaining recognition in high school and college administrations through growth in numbers of participants and an enhanced rugby brand.

The State College High School Rugby Program is for players enrolled in grades 9 to 12. Matches are played in the spring between teams of 15-a-side on a full-sized pitch. Although most Laws of the senior game apply, there are modifications. (See Under 19 Variations) Besides playing a round-robin schedule, teams also participate in an EPRU Championship. Winners proceed to a Territorial Championship, and if successful, the National High School Championship.
